Neil, RedNote postings from various citizens praise the safety of China because there are many cameras on the city streets and in the shopping areas. I'm all for this. The brotech-crasee controls us by knowing all about us. And they don't put up cameras to protect us. Now that's silly, there should be a few billionaires making money on huge camera sales.
Christine, not just cameras, nowadays, because everything is cheap and accessible, there is not much reason to steal or rob, petty crime still exists, but very very little to none.
btw, private company should not control the surveillance system. it has to be public infrastructure.
A good attitude: it's a hassle to use and shoot. Guns are metal objects manufactured to kill, no other reason. Ammunition has one purpose to place into a gun and kill. When you commented on a violent society....yes, that's the US. I put blinders on my eyes on purpose. I'm not one to join a Paranoia Parade.
There are rays of light here, but in a gathering darkness.
