The playbook has already been run in Guatemala, Chile, Argentina (incompetently), and Cuba (disastrously unsuccessful). The stage is set. Chavez nationalized Venezuela's oil resources, aggrieving several largely American oil companies which are now in a position, having bought-off the American government, to use the American military to seize the world's largest proven oil reserve. These people are extremely cynical, greedy and ruthless, and they don't care about the people or the environment. The only things that might stop them are a non-compliant military and/or a major domestic political sea-change. Our fascist, plutoimperialist history tells me not to hold my breath.
