It does not matter how many soldiers he sends. He can't prevent demage at all the energy infrastructure - why was Afghanistan impossible? Anything understood? This is news to me. There’s already 6,000-8,000 troops deployed. Considering another 10,000 is insane. Iran isn’t going to back down. They want those troops to invade.

We had to be cajoled and pulled into it, kicking and screaming. And then we abandoned Poland and Czechoslovakia to Russia after allowing thousands in the Netherlands to starve to death. So yeah. It was justified for sure, but then we swaggered in and trampled all over small countries, allies or not. So I can’t give us full moral credit on that one, either.
