Lyndon Johnson told the nation

Have no fear of escalation

I am trying everyone to please

Though it isn't really war

We're sending fifty thousand more

To help save Vietnam from the Vietnamese

~Tom Paxton, 1965

If there was any plan by the American government the Strait of Hormuz would have never closed. That should have been the first strategic battle to overcome. Now everyone in the World pays for this catastrophe fiasco.

Already made life unbearable now he wants to kill their children for oil,yet they sit on their hands doing nothing to stop this lunatic,if they do nothing they deserve everything he does to them imo.

Is it still an excursion with 50,000 troops deployed to Middle East?

Catherine Mommsen's avatar

Depends. Are you DJT? Then yes. Anyone else, no, not now and never was a stupid excursion.

It does not matter how many soldiers he sends. He can't prevent demage at all the energy infrastructure - why was Afghanistan impossible? Anything understood? No. Iran will teach him a lesson he will not forget. And with the surging debt of the US we ll see transformation. Vietnam 2.0. Many dead soldiers, for nothing.

This is news to me. There’s already 6,000-8,000 troops deployed. Considering another 10,000 is insane. Iran isn’t going to back down. They want those troops to invade.

Bleak, but oh so realistic analysis. Thank you, Neil.

The fight against

Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, and their allies is the only just war fought by the USA in at least the last 150 or more years. And then America did not fight alone.

We had to be cajoled and pulled into it, kicking and screaming. And then we abandoned Poland and Czechoslovakia to Russia after allowing thousands in the Netherlands to starve to death. So yeah. It was justified for sure, but then we swaggered in and trampled all over small countries, allies or not. So I can’t give us full moral credit on that one, either.

Biggest cowards in that war, then boasted about it for years.
