Yes, but you have to start from grass root, from the basic. Perform well in your local district government, climbing the ladder. The ppl you see in charge in central government, they have years and years experience from different levels of governance.

How many cases are there where someone is falsely accused and do they have a substantive and material opportunity to defend themselves and be fairly heard?

I would love to hear your take on Xi's unprecedented corruption purge, as the way I understand party politics, party members don't even investigate each other for corruption. Also, why is it taboo to say Jiang Zemin on Chinese Internet now?

they do, they actually look back almost 40 years of behaviours of the person being investigated. . I personally knows few people being investigated, it was not a good experience for them,. As for Jiang ZeMin, I am not sure, I can see his name on official media all that. i think maybe depends on the context of the post?

I knew someone as well, he was being investigated for using public resources for private purposes, and was a People's National Congress member. I just didn't know if it was as big before Xi took office.

As for Jiang, it was more of 华侨人 lamenting that things were apparently more free under him compared to now? That's how I learned about Toad Culture since apparently that's his nickname

I always find it ironic because we have Patriot Act and Alien Enemies Act doing exactly what we accuse China of doing. Though I suppose we are more free because while CPC sentenced this guy to death, we pardoned Blago and voted in the felon who pardoned him
